Finally got stopped in Wisconsin. The original bracket womped a hole in the nose, before it swung loose and had to be removed. Anybody have any recommendations for a plate holder that isnt so ugly and mounts in the grill or swings outta the way or ???

i just installed our front plate last weekend. I was all ready to custom fab something up, or try the stock bracket upside down, but while i was playing with it all, i came up with an easy, elegant solution.

I simply bolted the plate itself onto the bolts that the stock plate bracket bolts to (my CA plate lined up perfectly). To do this, i marked the diameter of the nuts on the license plate, then stuck it in a vice between two pieces of wood (to protect the plate). I then bent the plate down to something between 70-85 degrees or so, using the edge of the nut marks as my line (so that it will bolt up flat, then bend down as close to the bolts as possible , and that's it! It looks super clean (as clean as it can get with a plate up there) and the numbers are still readable.

Here is a link to a DIY hinged carrier complete with picture instructions. Looks pretty easy to do.
