Went on today in my 94. It has 80K miles and had been sitting at the airport for the last 5 days.
It came on on the way home. the car was running strong but I pulled over anyway. It was not overheating and oil was OK. Continued driving and the light went off before I got home.
Since the light is no longer on, will it do any good to take the car to dealership? Will the code still be in the computer? What is the most common reason for the check engie light to come on?
Thanks in advance.

I am going to take a guess that somehow the computer lost its memory while it was parked for five days and when into default mode and triggered the light. After driving it a little more it when back to normal mode. I don't think this stores a error code.

I've had this happen a couple times on my toyota truck. If I leave the key in the 'on' position for a long time >5min, I get it. I beleive in my case it's related to the oxygen sensor which I think has some sort of heater. It goes off after a while. I've also had a crappy oxygenated fuel incident where it tripped my check engine light, which I had to reset. Every time it trips I figre it's serious because everything on my 22r-e engine is original and I've got 192K miles on it. My toyota computer stores the last code even if it's the type of code that the computer can reset from.
