Hello,

No big deal, but the steering wheel in my 97 Miata is positioned a few degrees to the right when the car is going straight ahead. There is no pull, drift, or other indication that it needs alignment or that the tires are bad.

Well, more than just adjusting the front toe -

Get A Good Alignment.

Use Lanny's numbers, use Myk's numbers, use my numbers - but go to someone who knows what they are doing.

Get it aligned, tell them to straighten the steering wheel. Also, just because the car does not pull doesn't mean it won't benefit from an alignment.

I tend to agree with what has been said. A good alignment job should fix it. If they try to tell you otherwise, they don't know what they are doing.

However... You say it points a few degrees to the right. If you are in England or Ireland, then it may be nothing more than the crown of the road. It is normal to need to adjust the wheel a little towards the high side of the road when it is not totally flat right to left. Since you are talking to the right, then normally that would only apply to a country where they drive on the left side.

Agree. Swapping out the power steering rack for a manual one thoroughly trashes the alignment. I think I drove from R-Speed to the alignment shop with the steering wheel at about 20 degrees from horizontal in a straight line. After the alignment, it was back level.
