What is the fastest car ever made available to the public?

Of all the cars ever made available to the public, which has the highest top speed ever recorded?

Legal in what country? USA? UK? Australia?

I`ve been reading the Road & Track top speed tests for close to 30 years, and have never seen anything top this car.

0-60 in 3.9 seconds is the best I`ve seen!!

How many of those are street legal?

In my definition, the production cars are the ones that aren`t modified or customised in any degree once they leave the assembly line. For instance, the cars modified by Callaway, Renntech, and others do not qualify. So, for the fastest production car sold to the public, I`d say the three-seat McLaren F1 Road car with 617-horsepower BMW V12, topping out at 240,14 mph. It`s been confirmed as the fastest production car in the world.
As for the customised vehicles, there`s plenty of contenders.

yea i know right?? but anyways im pretty good with the engine everyone else just does the paint jobs and interier cuz i am horrible at art and stuff my sister has a tattoo gun shes really good at drawin =P any suggestions on what the paint job?? or interier??

It's good you are good with engines. Doesn't it give "funny faces" with your male-friends? Usually women aren't "supposed to" be good with engines
