Greetings. I have been reading a lot of folklore about the famous BOG at Watkins Glen during days of F1 competition at the track in New York State. I have not been able to determine from the writings exactly where the BOG was located. Can anyone help?
Please look at the map in the link below. http://www.theglen.com/images/maps/CupMaps1.jpg
If you can pinpoint the location of the BOG please send me e-mail or post the response. Either give description of the location relative to the map or send me a map of the track with an "X" where the famous mud pit was located. The map shows the track configuration post 1971 when the `LONG` track was built. The short track pre-1970 actually had an area called "FAST BEND" which was removed when the track was lengthened. Anyone with a map of the old configuration, please let me know where I can view it.
I hear items too numerous to mention were torched over the years until it got out of hand. Thanks Lots.

Gary, the "bog" was a mud hole, sometimes a stream, located in the purple area G. I think the road from gate 5 has been altered to cover up some of the "bog". Lookin` at the map it was located to the left of that road, west of the spectator tunnel that goes inside the boot. The map is not to scale.
It started as an innocent motorcycle jump through the mud, to crashin` and burnin` junk cars, and ended with the bus stolen from Emmo`s fans!! There used to be a website with bog pics., I`ll try to find it. My first race at the Glen was in 1970, saw the whole "bog" even getttin` gassed in our campsite!-stereo steve
Here is a short history of the "Glen", includes maps of the various street courses, and the orginal 2.3 track. stereo steve
