Have you checked out the classifieds at www.miata.net? They have a bunch of wheels available there.

The standard 14' rims (5.5' width) have a 4x100mm lug pattern on a hub-centric mount. I know that there are several other japanese manufacturers (including Honda) that have wheels that are compatible but do not know if they are hubcentric. But there is a cure for that too, altough I am no expert on it.

Stock Mazda 323 wheels are the same as Miata.

I got mine used for $10 each ( junk yard ) Tire stores sell them used for snow tires for $25 + - .

Not sure if it explains it. Hubcentric means the wheel is designed to fit snuggly over the hub so the hub centers the wheel on the axle. The lug nuts only hold it on.

The alternative is lug-centric: the lug nuts not only hold the wheel on, they also keep it centered (the hub doesn't).
